The primary objective is to equip leaders in cross-cultural missions, empowering them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively train others in this field. By doing so, AGT strives to cultivate a pool of competent and well-prepared individuals who can guide and mentor future leaders.

Additionally, our secondary goal is to elevate the significance of mission work within the Church in Asia. Through instilling a fresh vision and implementing practical strategies derived from the training received by our participants, we aim to position mission at the forefront of the Church’s priorities and activities in the region. By bringing this renewed focus, we hope to inspire a greater commitment to mission work and its integration into the core values of the Church in Asia.

This training takes place in an intercultural and interdenominational context, where learning happens integrally on many levels of life, through academic input and reflection, through interaction with participants from diverse contexts, through worshipping together and living together, and through the shared experience of exposure trips. It is in the shared experience of all these areas of learning, where the participants each bring and contribute their specific perspectives and experiences, that insight and wisdom grow and formation happens.

This training takes place outside of the context of each participant in order to give them space, concentrated time and resources towards a holistic learning. This deep learning might not be possible to the same extent when people stay in their own context under often demanding circumstances.

The subjects of the training are foundational to the mission. They can be seen as part of the ongoing learning for mission leaders, where new developments in the field of study are presented and reflected upon, and where the intercultural conversation will help the participants relate this to their own context and communities.

The subjects of the training are also related to exposure trips, in order to lift the conversation and reflection out of the theoretical context and relate them to the lived realities and contextual opportunities and challenges.
